Diva's Challenge #294: Reticula/Fragment Beginning

The Diva's challenge this week has been to use Reticula as
your string, and fragments as the tangles. It helps if you have
Rick and Maria's latest book: Zentangle Primer, Vol. I.
Basically: Draw a grid (reticula) and fill each space with
design/tangle (fragment) and then repeat that design
throughout the grid.

I chose Reticula RA-3 because I thought it would add some
interest, and Fragment Q3, but it also caused some distortion.
So I kept the same reticula (just stubborn, I guess) and tried it
with Fragment E4. This pattern didn't distort quite as much:
I really like this concept; I just need to play around with it a bit
more to get some better results. But for now these will do.

Be sure to visit the Diva's site to see the other wonderful entries; it's amazing how different all the responses are. Maybe you'll be inspired to try out one of the Challenges yourself.

Joey's Challenge #140, Finish My Tile: JuJu Beedze

Joey is featuring another Finish My Tile Challenge
using the tangle JuJu Beedze

Here's my take; as usual a monotangle:
I finished this earlier this week, but I was waiting
to post it till I had another challenge to post with it.
But it wasn't happening, so here's this one for now.

Take a look at Joey’s site to see the other entries,
and maybe try one yourself.

The Diva's challenge this week was to use the tangle Keeko.
Again, I decided to do a Monotangle:

It's a String Thing #170, Oke and Jelly Legs

This is the string for It's a String Thing #170

and the tangles are: Oke and Jelly Legs.

I hadn't used Jelly Legs before, but I like it, and I'm sure
I'll use it again. Here's what I did with them:
Be sure to check out all the entries @ Tickled to Tangle, on Monday afternoon, when Adele Bruno posts them. The vast differences that can be achieved using the same tangles on the same string are truly incredible. And, if you've a mind to try a String Thing yourself, check back on Tuesday afternoon,
when she offers the new ones.

Joey's Challenge #138; Finish My Tile: Twile

This week's challenge at Joey's site is another Finish My Tile,
using the tangle Twile. Here's Joey's tile:

and here's mine; a monotangle, as usual:
It got a little sloppy; I'm not sure why. But in true
Zentangle fashion, I'm posting it as is, warts and all.

Take a look at Joey’s site to see the other entries,
and maybe try one yourself.

Square One; Fassett and Florez

Trying to catch up with the Square One focus tangles;
here are Fassett and Florez:
 Someone commented that Fassett is hard to shade;
that's an understatement. This was the best I could do.

Check out the Square One/Purely Zentangle group
on Facebook and see all the other entries.
Square One has you going back to the basics.
Try it, you may like it.

Joey's Challenge #137: Finish My Tile; Wud; Diva's Challenge #291: Happy Halloween

Here's another Finish My Tile challenge from Joey this week.
This is the tile to be finished; and the tangle pattern is Wud.
I am so glad to have the Finish My Tile challenge again.
I really like the format; and missed it when Joey strayed
away from it. As usual, I chose to do a monotangle:

This week's Diva's challenge is to create a Halloween
themed tile. Or do a white on black tile - and use a
white gelly roll pen on a black tile, or other dark paper.
By the time I got around to do the challenge, Halloween
was long gone. Or at least a couple of days ago. So I opted
to do white on black; and decided to do a Zendala.

It's another monotangle; 4 variations of one of my patterns:
Vs and Arches.
