That String Thing #36

I really like this String Thing.
It starts out with String #042 by Bunny Wright:

and any or all of the following patterns:
Bucky and Bunzo - official Zentangle® patterns
Bubbles by CZT Suzanne McNeill
Buttercup by CZT Sandy Bartholomew

I immediately knew that I wanted to start with Bunzo in the 2 larger parts of the center section, and have Bubbles spring from Bunzo. Once I finished that part, it felt like it was done:

But I felt like I should try to use more of the string, and/or more of the patterns. So I played around  and realized that it didn't need the other patterns. But I did try one using the rest of the string. I kind of like it, too.

So as usual, I have to use them both. Which do you prefer?

Be sure to check out all the entries @ Tickled to Tangle, on Monday, when Adele Bruno posts them. The vast differences that can be achieved using the same tangles on the same string are truly incredible. And, if you've a mind to try a String Thing yourself, check back on Tuesday, when she offers the new ones.

Diva's Challenge #162, and That String Thing #35

I started the Diva's Challenge and That String Thing immediately after they were posted, but for one reason or another, got hung up finishing them. So finally, here they are.

First was Diva's Challenge #162: use your initials for the string. That was easy, more or less; I've done it before. But of course, you don't want to do the same thing again. So I played around a bit, and this is what I came up with:
Sakura Sepia Micron pens in 01 and 05,
highlighted with White Sakura Gelly Roll pen,
on Strathmore Toned Tan paper.
Tangles: Paradox, Purk, Aquafleur

 Next came String Thing #35, using String #047,
by Cheri Hartwick:

using the Official Tangles:  Cadent, Chillon, and Crescent Moon, and Cayke, by Rose Brown.

I used Chillon, Crescent Moon, and Cayke; Sakura Microns in Sepia, Brown, and Burgundy. When I finished, it seemed to lack something, so I added Cadent as a background, using a Prismacolor Sepia pencil, so it wouldn't fight with the main part of the tile.

All in all, I'm happy with both tiles; I hope you like them, too.

In a Quandary about Quandary

This week's challenge is to use the Tangle "Quandary",
and find the way to do it that works best for you.

Some times I use a grid and some times do it freehand.
Some times it works out perfectly,
and other times I get a little sloppy.
But this is sort of half way between.

I started with this String;

and made a Monotangle;
using one tangleation of Quandary
in each section of the string:
Part of it looks pretty good; part of it, not so much.
But as time is running out, it'll have to do.

Please be sure to check out the Diva's site

Maybe you'll even be inspired to try out
one of the Challenges yourself.
