String Thing #107, and more

On August 25th, seventy-six years ago,
the movie The Wizard of Oz debuted in the United States.
It's a String Thing #107 asks us to
tangle the Yellow Brick Road this week,
and begin with
TanglePatterns String 111 by CZT Maria Vennekens ~

and
Zenith by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas - their newest tangle
Pixioze by CZT Margaret Bremner - her latest tangle
and
Ann by Adele Bruno, from her very first blog post

So this is what I came up with.
This was one of those tiles that just fell into place.
The only real thinking I had to do was to decide
what color to make the butterflies (the tangle Ann)
I really like it; I hope you do, too.

As always, I urge you to check out all the entries @ Tickled to Tangle, on Monday afternoon, when Adele Bruno posts them. The vast differences that can be achieved using the same tangles on the same string are truly incredible. And, if you've a mind to try a String Thing yourself, check back on Tuesday afternoon, when she offers the new ones.

Over at Joey's Weekly Tangle Challenge #75
it's onto another week of the
and this week is the letter L

LinQ Monotangle
  Here's mine
This was done first, no shading.
Then I thought maybe it needed shading,
so I did this one

I'm really not sure which I prefer. What do you think?

Take a look at Joey’s site to see the other entries,
and maybe try one yourself.

 And last for this week,
the guest blogger at iamthediva is
CZT Holly Atwater.
She offered 2 challenges:
the first is any or all of 3 Audio Zentangle Meditations,
the second is the tangle Betweed.
I chose to do all 3 of the Audio Meditations:

The first was very straightforward,
and I zipped right through it.

But in the second and third I found it hard
to understand the audio; it just wasn't loud enough.
I suddenly realized that while I was wearing my hearing aids during the first one, I wasn't wearing them during the second and third. So I put them in, and tried again. The second one was still a little hard to hear, but the third one was fine.

All in all, it was an interesting and enjoyable experiment.
I would certainly do such meditations again.

Be sure to visit the Diva's site to see the other entries; it's always amazing how different all the responses are. Maybe you'll be inspired to try out one of the Challenges yourself.

And perhaps you'd like to try the Audio Zentangle Meditations.
You can access them at Holly Atwater's blog

String Thing #106

This week, String Thing #106 is using String #107,
by Lily Moon
and
Asian Fans by CZT Suzanne McNeill
and Bud and Budlite by Adele Bruno

My interpretation

I did this tile before reading Adele's
"Tips for Tangling Asian Fans".
Therefore, mine are not as precise as they might be.
But, otherwise, I'm very happy with it.

Be sure to check out all the entries @ Tickled to Tangle, on Monday afternoon, when Adele Bruno posts them. The vast differences that can be achieved using the same tangles on the same string are truly incredible. And, if you've a mind to try a String Thing yourself, check back on Tuesday afternoon, when she offers the new ones.

"The Undulating Tangles in C and S minor"

This week's guest host at I am the Diva is Sharla Hicks, CZT
Her challenge is to use an old favorite
undulating C or S curve tangle
and work in a series
OR find a new one and begin a new series.

Here is a series of tiles using Squid, which is full of undulations.
The first 2 are the same, except the first is unshaded,
and the second is shaded.

This one has less appendages and more Tipple
This one speaks for itself
And, of course, this one is white on black.

There are also some older ones I did a while ago:

This one is Mooka masquerading as Squid
I call it Son of Squid
and Son of Squid with Tipple
For now, I think I've exhausted all avenues in this series,
so I'm going to quit.
Thanks, Sharla, for a fun adventure.

Be sure to visit the Diva's site
to see the other wonderful entries;
it's amazing how different all the responses are.
Maybe you'll be inspired to try out one of the Challenges yourself.

String Thing, Diva's Challenge/Zendala Dare

String Thing #105 uses a string of the same #,
105 by Barbara Finwall,
and it's one of my favorites:

To me, this string really offers lots of possibilities,
and this challenge was no exception.

The patterns offered were all new ones:
Daviso CZT Katie Crommett
Dicso  CZT Mina (Ping-Min) Hsiao
X-ess by Susie Achter
Undu by Daniel Lamothe

I like them all, but I still haven't mastered Undu,
so I didn't use it.

It was a big surprise to find Erin Olson as the guest host for this week's Diva's Challenge #230.
We get to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, so to speak.
In other words, this Zendala counts for both
the Bright Owl and the Diva's challenges.
Here's the template for
"Let’s all be ZenDivaDala"

     and here's my interpretation:
This week, the Zendala Dare is accessed through the Diva's site, but be sure to check out the Bright Owl as well.   Visit I am the Diva's site to see the other wonderful entries; it's amazing how different all the responses are. Maybe you'll be inspired to try out one of the Challenges yourself.

And visit the Bright Owl's site to
check out future Zendala Dares,
and maybe try one of those as well.

Happy 2nd Birthday, String Thing

Since there are fifty-two weeks in a year,
and this is the one hundred fourth challenge,
then we have a birthday. And to celebrate,
Adele Bruno (the brains behind It's a String Thing)
has come up with this string:

and suggests using any or all of the following patterns:
Drupe, by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts
Meringue, by CZT Kelley Kelly
and Prestwood, by  CZT Margaret Bremner

I came up with a few variations;
all of them moving the string to one side or the other,
and as usual, can't decide which one to use.
