It's a String Thing #142

This week, over at Tickled to Tangle, Adele Bruno
has set another unusual challenge. I'll let her give
the challenge in her own words:
 "Begin with the tangles: Quib and Echoism
As for the string, you will create it by tangling Quib first.
Begin with two dots, placed on opposite ends of your tile,
in any direction you prefer. They can be diagonal,
north and south, east and west - just so they are on
opposite ends of the tile. By doing so, you will divide your
tile into sections using Quib as your string - great fun!
You have the option to tangle more Quib,
or use Echoism to complete your tile."

I really like both tangles very much, but I had a devil of
a time putting them together to meet this challenge.
After working on it off and on for a couple of days; I gave up,
and started over. This time I tried doing white ink on a
black tile. I liked it a little better; but still wasn't happy.
So I went back to the original black on white tile,
and tried adding some shading. That seemed to do the trick.

Here are both of them:
At this point, I'm kind of bleary-eyed; and I don't know
which I prefer. What do you think?

  Be sure to check out all the entries @ Tickled to Tangle, on Monday afternoon, when Adele Bruno posts them. The vast differences that can be achieved using the same tangles on the same string are truly incredible. And, if you've a mind to try a String Thing yourself, check back on Tuesday afternoon,
when she offers the new ones.

Joey #110

This week Joey is continuing using Roman Numerals
for the string; namely X:
 And although the string has 4 sections;
she's given us 5 tangles to work with:
Diva Dance, Showgirl, Snookum, Ticking, and Wedge.

I have a feeling that everyone (or at least most tanglers
taking the challenge) are, or will be using Snookums
along the string line or lines. It certainly was the path
of least resistance (and a no-brainer) for me.
Take a look at Joey’s site to see the other entries,
and maybe try one yourself.

Diva's #265: Stripes

 The last couple of weeks, Ive done the Diva's challenges,
but couldn't seem to finish them. Just too much going on;
so I wanted to be sure to finish and post this week's.
Especially because I like the format so much. I hope to
get back in the swing of things soon. But for now,
at least here's this week's tile.

This week's challenge is Stripes; one of my all-time favorites.
I took a slightly different approach this time. Instead of having
all the stripes go in the same direction, I placed some of them
at a right angle to the others. I like the resulting effect.
Be sure to visit the Diva's site to see the other wonderful
entries; it's amazing how different all the responses are.
Maybe you'll be inspired to try out one of the challenges yourself.

Joey's Weekly Challenge #109

Over at Joey's Weekly Challenge,
we are continuing using Roman Numerals as
the string; in this case IX:

And the tangles to use are;
and Zinger
I used all except Mooka:
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````
 Last week, I didn't finish Joey's Challenge #108,
which, of course was Roman Numeral VIII
using
and
N'Zeppel
While I like Crescent Moon, and use it often,
I just couldn't fit it in very well.
And I'm not much of a fan of N'Zeppel;
but somehow it wormed it's way into the tile,
anyway. Not so well done, but it's there.
Joey's Challenge #107, Roman Numeral VII
This week, the string for Joey's Challenge
continues using Roman Numerals
Since it's Challenge #107, the Roman Numeral is VII:
The tangles chosen are:
Queen's Crown
Gotcha
Zailz
Nipa
Here's my take:
I used all four of the tangles.
It's a String Thing #139
This week's String Thing from Adele Bruno
over at Tickled to Tangle is #139, and uses
Adele's String of the same number;
and the tangles selected are:
Betwixt, Chillon,Tagh.
Here's my take on it:
I used all 3 tangles.
Many other Tanglers have stated that photographing
their tiles gives them truer colors than scanning them.
I don't find that necessarily true; they usually seem to
come out more yellow, as in this case. But unfortunately,
I'm having serious problems with my Laptop, and had to
take it in for repairs. So I'm doing this on my iPad; which,
of course, has no scanner. I'll tell you, it's not been fun.
Everything takes forever. I suppose if I had to do it more
often, I'd learn what I need to know.
That said, I've gotten this far; so now I have to figure
out how to add a link so you can all go over to
Tickled to Tangle Monday afternoon and see
all the other entries. And Tuesday afternoon,
she posts the new challenge.
(Well, I think I did it)
Diva's Challenge #262, UMT; Fassett
Usually, I save all my weekly challenges
and post them together, but that usually means
I end up posting them at the very last minute.
So this week I decided to post them as I finish them.
This being the first Monday of the month, it's UMT,
or Use My Tangle, and the Tangle is Fassett, by Lynn Mead.
While looking to find a compatible string,
I came across #129 by Nancy Smith.
It just seemed like the perfect start, so I went with it:
Diva's Challenge #261: Bijou Stack
Jane Reiter, CZT, is the Diva's Guest Blogger this week;
and she's come up with a fascinating challenge:
Start with a Bijou tile (2" square). Cut 5 squares of
mat board,  card stock, recycled cardboard,
watercolour paper  or Bristol board in
 successive sizes to correspond to the Bijou tile:
3”, 4”, 5”, 6”, and 7” squares.
Tangle the Bijou tile with any tangle (or tangles) of
your choice, then tangle the borders of the larger squares.
This is a good opportunity to use border tangles,
or any linear style tangle.
Here are mine before stacking:
and here is the finished stack:
 I thought I was going to do a few of these, but those
5 borders took much more time than I'd expected.
But I really like the concept, and I know that I'll
try it again, perhaps in color.
Be sure to visit the Diva's site to see the other wonderful
entries; it's amazing how different all the responses are,
especially with this technique. Maybe you'll be inspired
to try out one of the Challenges yourself.
Joey's Weekly Challenge #106, and It's a String thing #138
This week's Roman Numeral String from Joey is VI:
and any Tangle patterns of our choice.
I used:
Betweed and Paradox, both official tangles,
and X-It, my tangle pattern:
and maybe try one yourself.
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Over at Tickled to Tangle, Adele Bruno has come up
with a new concept: Create a monotangle of Citrus
(her new tangle) and then fill in the sections
with pattern/s of your choice.

Here's what I came up with:

I used Citrus as the String, as well as a fill,
and Paradox, Betweed, Meer, Prestwood, and Heartswell.

The vast differences that can be achieved using the same tangles on the same string are truly incredible. And, if you've a mind to try a String Thing yourself, check back on Tuesday afternoon,
