Joey's, Square One, String Thing, and the Diva;
they're all here in one fell swoop.

It's all about Spring at Joey's right now; so for starters, this week's challenge  is to use the tangle Cat-kin. I had just been looking at the latest String, #151, by Cherie Hartwick

It looked to me like a perfect match. So here's what I did with it, pairing it up with Trumpits
 Perhaps it's a bit simplistic, but I'm happy with it.
Take a look at joey’s site to see the other entries, and maybe try one yourself.

Next up is Squid, which was the Square One choice a week or two ago. I didn't post it right away because just when I finished it, Square One chose Nipa for the following week, and I was going to combine them. But after playing around with them together, I decided that Squid looked much better by itself. So here it is:
I really like Squid; I think it's a very elegant tangle.
But now I'll have to do another tile for Nipa; and for the next Square One tangle, which is Man-O-Man. I've really got to get myself caught up with all these challenges. In the meantime, check out the Square One/Purely Zentangle group on Facebook and see all the other entries for Squid, Nipa and all the others. Square One has you going back to the basics; try it, you'll like it.

Over at It's a String Thing, Adele has set out these strings:

and these new tangles:
Loop by Amelie Liao, CZT
and
'Brella by Bunny Wright, CZT

The second string is a sort of miniatured version of one of my favorite, go-to strings, #043, by Beth Snoderly. So I was rarin' to go with it. But of course, I had to find a way for the tangles to work together in this particular setting. It actually turned out to be a no-brainer; set the more geometric one, 'Brella, as a frame. Eventually this is what I came up with:

Be sure to check out all the entries @ Tickled to Tangle, on Monday afternoon, when Adele Bruno posts them. The vast differences that can be achieved using the same tangles on the same string are truly incredible. And, if you've a mind to try a String Thing yourself, check back on Tuesday afternoon, when she offers the new ones.

 And last, but not least, the Diva's Challenge #212. It's a UMT (Use My Tangle) challenge; the tangle is Fanz, by Susan Goetter. I chose to do a Monotangle.

Be sure to visit the Diva's site to see the other wonderful entries; it's amazing how different all the responses are. Maybe you'll be inspired to try out one of the Challenges yourself.

  2. What a very cool composition/string for your tile of Fanz! Love the tangle loop and your string challenges are very cool too. Wish I had more time to navigate to some of these other sites to see more, but am totally fascinated by what I am seeing on your blog...thanks for the insight and inspiration.
