Joey's Weekly Challenge #66, and That String Thing #98

I am out of town for my annual visit back home to see friends and family. So far it's been very enjoyable. Earlier this evening I had a trunk show of my Lampworked glass beads and jewelry, including the metal working I have been doing lately. It was at a local bead store (Ayla's Originals, in Evanston, IL) and part of a Wine Walk, which brought in some extra people. I sold a couple of pieces, and now we'll see what happens over the next two days, when my work stays at the shop for some extra exposure.

Whenever I have some time, I've been spending it tangling, and I'm going to attempt to see if I can post pictures of the results.

The first is Joey's Weekly Tangle Challenge #66, Cornerz Monotangle

The second is "That String Thing # 98
Using string# 090
and any or all of these patterns:

Here's mine:

My iPad is not cooperating very well; this is the best I can do.

Be sure to check Joey's site, as well as Tickled to Tangle (for That String Thing, on Monday afternoon) for all the other entries.

Till next time, when hopefully I can post more easily.

More Arukas

The focus tangle on Square One this week is Arukas, which has been used in a couple of challenges lately. The Diva's Challenge #219 was Straight Lines, All the Time, and I did this:
And Joey's Challenge #64 was to do an Arukas monotangle, and here's mine:
Be sure to check out the Diva's and Joey's sites, as well as Square One, to see all the other entries, and maybe try some yourself.

Diva's Challenge #222, Colors of the Rainbow

I have been spending most of my time getting ready for my annual trip back home. Normally, packing is a bit of a pain anyway; but add to the usual packing the fact that I'm going to be having a Trunk Show at a local bead shop, and you have the makings of a real trauma. So I haven't had much time to work on challenges.

Since I obviously don't want to trust my beads and jewelry to my check-on baggage, I've had to  try and find creative ways to pack them so they don't take up too much space, and don't add too much weight. After I had most of them wrapped, I realized that I hadn't documented the newer ones, so I had to unwrap, photograph, and rewrap them. So that somewhat explains why I haven't had much time to work on Zentangles.

So I borrowed an idea from a previous joey's weekly challenge, and here it is; a Vano Monotangle:

 I hope you like it.

Be sure to visit the Diva's site to see the other wonderful entries; it's amazing how different all the responses are. Maybe you'll be inspired to try out one of the Challenges yourself.

Joey's #64 and Square One

Another week with only a few challenges accomplished. I've been busy getting ready for a trip back home, which includes a Trunk Show at one of the local bead shops. So I've been spending most of my time trying to compile the beads (I'm a glass bead maker in my other life) and jewelry (also a jewelry designer/maker) to take with. Not to mention just the regular packing for the trip. And, of course, the packing restrictions are making it difficult.

I've been trying work on challenges a little bit, but not to great success. I finished Joey's Challenge #64, Arukas Monotangle, but almost didn't, because I used Arukas for the Diva's straight line challenge recently. Maybe I should have just used the tile I did for that challenge. Oh, well, too late now.
This is my Arukas tile:

The other tile I did was for Square One. It combines the tangles that were the focus of each of the last 3 weeks (including this week): Rain, Msst, and Flux
Be sure to check out the Square One/Purely Zentangle group on Facebook and see all the other entries for these and lots of other tangles. Square One has you going back to the basics;
try it, you may like it.

Muster-Mixer #7, Diva's Challenge #220

This week I'm trying a new challenge: Muster-Mixer #7. The challenge is to merge 2 tangle patterns together. The patterns for this week are Cat-Kin and Jax. It's practically a no-brainer; here is what I came up with:
Maybe it's a little too simple; I went with the first thought I had. But for my first time out, I think it's fine.

If you're interested in learning more, or trying it out yourself, here is the link: Pattern Mixer #7

Next is the Diva's Challenge #220, which on the first Monday of the month is UMT, better known as USE MY TANGLE. The tangle for this month is All Boxed Up, by CZT Alice Hendon.

After I finished the first one:

I got another idea; so I did a second one:

That's all for this week. Just wasn't able to accomplish more. Let's hope next week is more productive.
Have a good one.
