Diva's Challenge #206: Tools/Trade

This week the Diva sliced open her thumb, and as a result, ended up using different tools and materials than usual in doing her tile. She used a larger tile, and a Prismacolor Brush nib pen, so as to cover more ground, more quickly than usual. So she challenged us to use tools or materials
we've never used before.

The first thing I did was to tangle on my pencil/pen case. I'd been wanting to do that for a long time, so I figured this was it. The surface that I tangled on was different from that I normally use; but the pen, a silver uni-ball, was one I had used often. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the ink was slow to dry on that surface, and while working on the case, I smudged a little bit. It's probably not my best work;
but for a first attempt it's OK.
  I have bought a lot of different pens and brushes over the years, many of which I've never used. So once I finished the case, I decided to try using one of them. I settled on a black IDenti-pen, which is really a marker, rather than a pen. I considered adding color, but decided against it at the last minute. To further make it different from my normal tiles, I used a 4.5"x4.5" tile; a string I'd never used before, and 3 tangles that were also new to me: Stitch, Roxi, and Wiskit.
 Be sure to visit the Diva's site to see the other wonderful entries; it's amazing how different all the responses are. Maybe you'll be inspired to try out one of the Challenges yourself.

  1. I love both pieces. I don't see the smudge so I wouldn't worry about it. I used the same string for my piece (great minds....)

    1. Thanks, Dorita. Glad you like my tiles. Maybe we both used the same string because it's so new that it's fresh in our minds. I checked out yours; great job on the box. Looking forward to seeing it again when it's all finished.

  3. I love your pencil case...I used to have one like it and don't know where it got to. But your tangles are well done and I didn't even see where it is smudged. I like the new tangles you tried too. They look great.

    1. Thanks, Lezli. If you're looking for another pencil case, you can get them at Office Max or Depot, or even Michael's or Staples.

    1. Glad you like it Annemarie. It's the first "thing" I've ever tangled. Now I'm looking for other things to tangle.
