and this is what I did with it; although as you can 

see, I turned it on its side. Couldn't quite decide which

way to turn it; so I let my husband decide for me.

Joey's Last Challenge: #222, Maryhill, IAST #249, Abeko + Diva Dance

Joey has announced that this will be her last challenge.

 I will really miss them; especially since I've just started 

getting back to doing challenges on a fairly regular basis. 

I have been having problems with concentrating, focusing, 

and  functioning in general; somewhat similar to what  

the Diva and some of her readers have been going through. 

But Adele Bruno is still going strong, and Square One as well. 

Anyway, Joey's FMT/front + center this past week has been

using Maryhill. I never realized before what a versatile tangle

this is. I had a ball with it; so much so that I ended up doing 

2 tiles. This is the first one:

Joey's Challenge this week is another

FMT: front and center challenge, starting

with the tangle Pais. Usually, I do these 

challenges of Joey's as monotangles. But 

for some reason this week, I just didn't.

I added ZenJellies, Tipple, Antidots, and Auras.

The first tile I did for It's a String Thing #248, 
was really terrible. I can't remember when (or if)
I've ever done one so bad, and usually in the true 
spirit of Zentangle, I'll post whatever I've done. But
this was really bad. So I tried again, and this one is
better. I have done this one as a monotangle; I 
guess I'm making up for not doing one for Joey's.

Joey's Challenge #220

Joey’s Challenge this week brings us back to PUF, 
which was the focus of the last Diva’s challenge.
PUF is one of my favorite Tangles. There are a few 
different ways in which to do it; and I’ve used 2 of 
them in this tile.

 And over at It's a String Thing, Adele is featuring a 
new technique by Helen Williams called String Grid.
I really love this technique, but haven't completely 
mastered it yet. But the way that Helen lays it out, 
there are a few steps; and you don't have to use all
of them. Which is what I did; only went to the 2nd
stage. And here's my attempt:

star-like String;

Behind the Auraknot I did a layer of Betweed, and

behind that layer, I just used inner auras.

I think this is the most tangling I've done in one week
for a long time. I hope it's the beginning of 
getting my Zen back.

Diva's Challenge #262: UMT: SOMNEE

Well, it took me 6 weeks, but here I am, trying again.

Still not anywhere near "Normal" yet; but I AM trying.

And this was the first Challenge that I was actually

able to complete. I wasn't too crazy about SOMNEE

at first, but it turned out to be one that I could work 

with. I was going to try using color in some of the 

larger Orbs, but I ran out of steam.

So for what it's worth: here's my SOMNEE:

Diva"s Challenge #357: Pardox Monotangle

This week's Challenge from the Diva 

is to do a monotangle of Paradox. Now,

Paradox is one of my favorite tangles;

actually, probably my Most Favorite. 

So this was a no brainer for me. So much 

so, that I couldn't stop with just one tile. 

First I did this one:

I probably could have kept on going; but I'll 

just post these 2.

Coming Back

I haven't been posting for quite some time. 

I've had some medical/health issues, and 

part of the problem has been that I have 

trouble concentrating, and focusing. So I 

not only haven't posted, but I haven't even 

been able to do any challenges. 

But I have the homework to do a couple 

of challenges, and post at least one of them.

I've chosen to post both of the ones I've done.

It hasn't been easy; I've had trouble doing 

them, and these are far from my best work.

I realize I still have a long way to go, to get 

back to the level I was at before.  

That said here are my tiles:

Diva's Challenge #317: Photo Tangles

The Diva came up with a unique, really different idea for 

this week's challenge: use an image as the string, and

 tangle around it. You can use a photo, or a copy of a photo, 

or an image that you find on the Web or in a magazine.

Since I love butterflies (hence the name of my blog, and 

my studio) I was going to use a picture of a butterfly; 

a real butterfly. But then I thought, better still would be a 

picture of one of my glass butterfly beads. In my other life,

 I'm a glass worker, specifically a glass beadmaker. I make 

glass beads to be used as the focal points of jewelry; 

and of course have many pictures of them.

So I cut out a picture of one of my butterfly beads, glued

it on a tile, and tangled around it. And here it is:

I'm happy with it, although the glass probably 

doesn't show up as well as I'd like.

I finally managed to do both the Diva's and the String Thing

Challenges for this week. Still not doing things as well as I'd

like, but at least they're decent enough to post them. 

First up, being the first Monday of the month, is the Diva's

UMT (use my tangle) challenge, where the tangle to use is

one created by one of us. This time it's Frunky,

 by Katharina Königsbauer-Kolb.
